Canvas Systems is a leading provider of full lifecycle technology solutions. Founded in 1998 and based in Norcross, Canvas Systems is a reseller of pre-owned IT equipment and has been innovative in developing disaster recovery solutions, datacenter relocation services, and short-term IT equipment rentals. As a leader in the IT industry, Canvas Systems is dedicated to providing quality equipment and service at a great value to our customers. As a Gwinnett-based business, Canvas places specific importance on delivering technology solutions to local businesses—like CheckFree, Lucent Technologies, Gwinnett Medical Center and Georgia Pacific—enabling them to serve their customers’ needs quickly and efficiently.

Canvas was founded by four Gwinnett residents—Mark Metz, Sean Murphy, Ed Flachbarth and James Davie—who wanted to locate their new company in Gwinnett to help boost the local economy and provide jobs for residents. Over the past eight years, Canvas has grown to a company of over 180 employees, 50% of whom live in Gwinnett County. In addition, Canvas co-founder Sean Murphy helped create the Gwinnett Technology Forum, a non-profit organization that holds monthly meetings for business leaders to exchange ideas and talk about new developments in the high tech sector.

As an active member of the Gwinnett Chamber, Canvas participates in the Chairman’s Club, Gwinnett Technology Forum and the Pinnacle Business Awards.

“We value the opportunities these events give us to network with other county business, school and government leaders. Canvas Systems plans to stay in Gwinnett for many years, and we think Partnership Gwinnett will ensure that Gwinnett County continues to be a great place to live and work,” said Murphy.

Two of Murphy’s favorite Gwinnett Chamber events are the Gwinnett Technology Forum and the Chairman’s Club.

“The ability to network with business leaders from across the county is very beneficial to my business, and I enjoy meeting local leaders with similar goals and interests, said Murphy.”

As a tip for aspiring business leaders, Murphy says to “find a career that you are passionate about. Passion will drive you to perfect your skills, and this same passion will help you develop lifelong customers. If you love what you do, then you can’t really call it a job.”
