Education and Workforce

Gwinnett County, Georgia is a great place to live and a great place to learn. Education is a top priority for parents, employers, and elected officials, and the area has some of the highest-ranking public and private schools -- from elementary grades to the university level -- in the Southeast and the nation.

Gwinnett County students continue to post the state’s highest test scores and graduation rates, and school choice is alive and well in the form of magnet schools, parochial schools, private academies, and a growing home-schooling movement.

In higher education, Gwinnett County and metro Atlanta are home to 21 public and private institutions of higher education, which enroll over 211,000 students in fields of study ranging from biological sciences and engineering to business and management and health professions.

Each May and December, a steady stream of educated workers enters the job market from these educational institutions, making the area full of some of the most educated and talented employees in the nation.

Students of all ages learn new skills, advance their careers, and enrich their minds by taking advantage of university adult learning programs, technical-college courses, and continuing-education offerings.
