How To Keep Your Small Business Running—Even If You Become Disabled

If you (as a small business owner) become seriously injured or ill, does your business itself also become disabled? If you are a critical part of your business, it may not survive.

Overhead expenses will continue whether you are able to work or not. You could still
meet your business’ financial obligations if you plan for the unexpected-- with disability overhead expense insurance.

The Union Central Life Insurance Company offers this type of coverage as one of many insurance products made available to Chamber-member businesses as a part of the MemberCare Alliance of Gwinnett County (SM) program.

Disability overhead expense insurance can keep your business running in the event of total or partial disability of the business owner. Your policy will provide cash
reimbursement of covered business overhead expenses—such as rent, utilities, employee wages, insurance, taxes and leasing costs. The policy is noncancellable and guaranteed renewable until the owner reaches age 65. You may select from benefit periods of 12, 18 or 24 months. Insurance premiums are tax-deductible, and qualified member businesses are eligible for discounted premiums of 15%.

Prepare to financially maintain your small business if you’re unable to generate thenecessary revenue with disability overhead expense coverage.

This and other insurance products are available from Chamber-member insurance agents. The MemberCare Alliance of Gwinnett County program is part of a statewide network of 95 Chambers offering health insurance products to members, many at discounted rates. For more information, call the Chamber, your Chamber-member insurance agent, or Purchasing Alliance Solutions, Inc., (the company that developed MemberCare Alliance of Gwinnett County) at 770-579-1214.
