Chinese consumer electronics producer announces more jobs and capital investment in Gwinnett and the State of Georgia

Gwinnett County, Metro Atlanta, Georgia July 10 – Self Electronics, a manufacturer of high-end LED lighting products, today announced the expansion of its Gwinnett location only a year after locating a facility in the County.
 
“Our presence in Gwinnett has been a major success,” said Vincent Li, Vice President, Self Electronics USA Corporation. “It only took us a short time to see that we would need a bigger operation.”
 
The expansion will mean two to three new jobs during 2010, with more coming later if the company’s business continues to grow.  The company is in the process of purchasing a 7500 square foot building on an acre at 4500 Peachtree Lakes Drive in Duluth.  Contacts have been made with Home Depot and Lowe’s, and its products are already in use in stores such as Lord and Taylor.  The announcement comes as Gwinnett Chamber economic development conducts its 2010 Global Business mission to China.
 
“The ties between Gwinnett County and China are growing,” said Jim Maran, president of the Gwinnett Chamber.  “We’ve been conducting preliminary trips to China over the past year and a half to prepare for this mission, and even as we are making contacts on this visit, we hear this news of Self Electronics’ expansion back home.”
 
Comprising representatives from both the public and private spheres, the 20-member delegation is near the end of its tour with stops in seven cities, including Beijing, Shanghai, Qingdao, Wuxi, Hong Kong, Macau and Incheon (South Korea).  The visits has featured meetings with local business and government economic development representatives.
