Congratulations to Olympus Media, LLC--Business of the Month for October 2008.
Olympus Media was formed in Orlando, FL in August, 2004 with a management team headed by Jim McLaughlin, former president of Turner Outdoor which was headquartered and operated right here in Metro Atlanta. The goal of the company was to build a competitive outdoor advertising company through acquisition and development. The first acquisition was made in November, 2004 and it consisted of 94 faces in Northern Georgia and Metro Atlanta. Within the next few months, several more acquisitions were made in Northern Georgia so the decision was made in June of 2005, to relocate the corporate offices to Metro Atlanta. Olympus has continued to increase their presence in Georgia with numerous additional acquisitions. In just four years the company has grown to more than 600 billboard faces in the Atlanta metro, the results of more than 30 separate acquisitions.
Subsequent acquisitions have been made in Pennsylvania, Indiana, Missouri and Tennessee as the company expanded outside of Georgia. Olympus has grown from the original 94 faces to over 2200 faces. They have also grown from the founding eight people in 2004 to almost 50 employees. They continue to look for new growth opportunities through acquisitions, lease development, and new technology.
Olympus installed the first 14 x 48 LED unit in the Atlanta metro area in September, 2006 on the I-75 / I-85 connector across from Turner Field. Since building the “AirTran” board, they have added 8 additional LED units near several major shopping malls and lead the outdoor industry in number of LED displays in metro Atlanta. Six of their ten LED locations are located in Gwinnett County.
