Stiefel Laboratories, the world’s largest independent dermatology company, first arrived in Gwinnett County in 1993. The company was so pleased with Gwinnett County’s rapid growth and robust offerings that it relocated its Global Sales and Marketing Headquarters to Duluth in 2003. Now, with more than 300 employees working in two Duluth-based facilities, Stiefel is a proud and active member of the Gwinnett County community.
Bill Humphries, president, Stiefel, currently sits on the board of the Gwinnett County Chamber of Commerce and is involved in the Chamber’s Gwinnett Life Sciences Council. He also serves on the board of trustees for Georgia Gwinnett College.
“Stiefel is known throughout the industry for its commitment to the field of dermatology…” said Humphries. “…and we often partner with the outstanding skin care specialists located right here in the Gwinnett community.”
Humphries noted the dermatology company uses a number of local venues for their excellent hospitality services.
“As a global organization, we host meetings and seminars in Duluth attended by employees from around the world,” said Humphries. “In fact, this past May we held our company’s first-ever ‘Stiefel Summit’ at the Duluth Marriott. It was a world-class event for 150 of our employees who came from all corners of the globe. We are proud of our colleagues and equally proud to have hosted them in Duluth.”
Humphries points to the fact that many Stiefel employees make Gwinnett County their home. Since Stiefel employees can be transferred from other parts of the world, the company also provides corporate housing through Lincoln Property Management and The Gables on Satellite Boulevard.
Stiefel regularly patronizes Gwinnett venues for employeeappreciation functions. Of special note is “Stiefel Rock Night” held in conjunction with Gwinnett Gladiator ECHL hockey games at The Arena at Gwinnett Center. The company also holds its annual holiday party at Gwinnett Center, an outstanding venue for large-scale celebrations.
In addition to Stiefel’s many global and national corporate citizenship programs, the company is dedicated to the local community. Stiefel supports many local charities and, to date, has donated nearly $50,000 toward the Gwinnett March of Dimes, and Chef’s Signature Auctions. The company was the proud recipient of eight separate awards for its support of March for Babies. Stiefel is also a champion of Gwinnett County education and this month will participate in its third “Principal for a Day” event – a joint venture of the Gwinnett County Board of Education and the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce.
