At the ‘Heart’ of the Matter

Manfred Sandler M.D., has played an active role in Gwinnett Medical Center’s attempt to secure the Certificate of Need to provide Open Heart Surgical service at the Lawrenceville campus.

The Cardiovascular Group, P.C.,(CVG) founded in 1982 by Marc Unterman M.D. and Michael Lipsitt M.D., is now a group of 17 cardiologists and staff which specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of heart and vascular disease. Cardiovascular Group P.C. is committed to providing the highest quality medical care available today. CVG physicians and staff are sincerely interested in our patients and their well being.

The group has its signature building in Lawrenceville which it built in 2005. The building is home to the most state of the art outpatient diagnostic equipment currently available in the cardiac and vascular arena. This would include a 64 slice CT scanner which is the newest most innovative way to visualize the heart anatomy and its blood supply in 3-D. In 2007, CVG installed a secure internet based electronic medical record system that makes patient’s charts accessible anywhere/anytime. In addition to their flagship office in Lawrenceville, CVG has four other Gwinnett County offices (Buford, Duluth, Hamilton Mill and Suwanee) as well as offices in Fulton, Forsyth and Walton County. Cardiovascular Group is the largest private cardiology practice serving the Gwinnett Hospital System, St. Joseph’s, Emory Eastside Medical Center and Emory Johns Creek. Physicians from the group hold leadership positions at all of these institutions. Cardiovascular Group P.C. is proud that 75% of their patients are fellow Gwinnettians.

CVG is playing an active role in Gwinnett Medical Center’s attempt to secure the Certificate of Need (CON) to provide Open Heart Surgical services at the Lawrenceville campus. Gwinnett County is the largest county in the country without “Open Heart” and CVG believes offering this service will give its residents the best chance at surviving a cardiac event.

The Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce has taken an active role in promoting the need for complete health care to be available for all the residents of the County. CVG is a longstanding member of the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce and became a Chairman’s Club member three years ago as well as a committed partner in the Partnership Gwinnett campaign. Additionally, Manfred Sandler M.D. serves as an active member of the Chamber Board of Directors.

If there is one single message CVG physicians would like to share with the business leaders and their employees, it is to encourage healthy eating, exercise and detecting heart disease at an early stage when it is treatable.
