From the moment you walk through the doors at WineStyles at the Avenue Webb Gin, you’ll feel like you’ve traveled back in time to the old world wine cellar of your dreams. And there’s no reason to feel overwhelmed: not only are the taste “styles” clearly marked, but there is always a smiling and knowledgeable wine lover at your service to help answer any questions you may have or to suggest great gift ideas.
“Our wine is for drinking, not worshipping,” explains Ed Ukaonu, owner, WineStyles. “After all, the best wines are not the most expensive; they are the wines that bring you the most enjoyment at the right time and at the right price.”
Ukaonu boasts that WineStyles at the Avenue Webb Gin is the ideal place to learn about wine because it takes the guesswork out of buying wine. WineStyles is organized by eight different style categories instead of varietal or region.
Demystifying the selection of the right bottle of wine, these taste profiles include Crisp, Silky, Rich and Bubbly for whites and Fruity, Mellow, Bold for reds, nectar for sweet desert wines.
In addition, each bottle is accompanied by a description listing the wine’s characteristics, flavors and suggested food pairings. Each WineStyles carries wines ranging from regional and local wines as well as unique, hard-to-find wines from small and large vineyards from around the world. WineStyles features up to 150 revolving world-class wines and most are priced between $10 and $25 per bottle.
WineStyles offers more that just a good bottle of wine with offerings including a variety of gifts and accessories such as customizable gift baskets, monthly wine clubs, a frequent buyer program and private event opportunities.
“By offering weekly tastings and a gathering place for friends, WineStyles has quickly become an integral part of the local community,” said Ukaonu. “Moreover, WineStyles employees are always available to answer any questions to customize each individual’s wine buying experience.”
“We feature wine tastings twice a week, live music on Fridays and wine served all day, and we provide a great environment to host private events,” continued Ukaonu.
Beyond providing the community with a place to wine down and enjoy a good glass of wine, Ukaonu is involved in many aspects of the community including the Gwinnett Chamber where he is a member of the Chairman’s Club and serves on the Board of Directors.
“I believe in Gwinnett County and applaud the vibrant and forward looking disposition of the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce,” said Ukaonu. “We are committed to continue to support events and activities in the Chamber and Gwinnett County as a whole.”
For the past two years, WineStyles has been the sole wine sponsor for the Chamber’s annual dinner and, according to Ukaonu, will continue to do so every year for the foreseeable future.
Ukaonu also believes in the community and in giving back. In the past two years, WineStyles at the Avenue Webb Gin has hosted fundraising events and donated to Dream House for Kids, Gwinnett Medical Center, The Arthritis Foundation, and Habitat for Humanity. “This summer we will host ‘Toasting the Tatas’ for breast cancer,” said Ukaonu.
Offering a piece of advice to fellow business leaders Ukaonu says to first and foremost trust God, learn how to bless others and operate with integrity.
