Lanier Islands enjoyed its very first year of operation in 1974 with humble beginnings that included boat docks, campgrounds, stables, beaches, a golf course, and a lovely waterfront hotel called the Pine Isle. In the years since – particularly those following the purchase of the leasehold on the resort by the Williams Family in 2005 – the Islands have undergone an amazing transformation into what you see today.
The resort’s flagship hotel and conference center was revamped and rebranded as Legacy Lodge – garnering the attention of Southern Living which named the Lodge as part of its coveted Hotel Collection in 2014. Executive-style lakeside lodgings were added with the Legacy Villas, and the family-friendly LakeHouses were renovated to reflect the same dedication to luxury that guests of the resort have since come to know and love.
Situated about 45 miles from downtown Atlanta on 1,500 pristine acres of forests, meadows and beaches, this luxury resort continues to grow in size, scope and reputation as one of the Southeast’s leading lakeside retreats.
