redpepper: A Different Kind of Ad Agency

Dave McMullen, owner of redpepper, encourages members to “seek first to help others” and you’ll be rewarded in return.

Located in historic downtown Lawrenceville on the square, redpepper is a full-service marketing, advertising and public relations firm that specializes in discovering clients’ unique marketing opportunities.

redpepper prides itself on being a different kind of ad agency – and a different kind of work environment entirely.  When the concept of building an agency came to partner Dave McMullen, one of the forefront thoughts was to produce a “culture” like no other – to create the anomaly of a place where people actually enjoyed coming to work.  In an industry where creativity is the ultimate resource, redpepper works hard to develop an environment that fosters original thinking.  The redpepper culture encourages staffers to find a practical balance between their professional careers and personal lives in order to build well-rounded employees.

“Our service is to create unique personalities for our clients’ organizations,” said McMullen.  “In order to succeed in that goal, we first cultivate the unique personalities that work at redpepper.”

redpepper is proud to count such diverse organizations as Averitt Express, CAO Cigars, John Deere Boots, The Nashville Kats, Gwinnett Convention and Visitors Bureau, The Marena Group, Evermore Community Improvement District, the Suwanee Gateway and Brand Vaughn Lumber as valued clients.

A proud member of Chairman’s Club since redpepper’s inception in 2002, McMullen also serves on the Partnership Gwinnett external marketing committee, is an alumnus of Leadership Gwinnett, and participates on the Gwinnett Technology Forum steering committee.

“My favorite Chamber event is the Gwinnett Technology Forum. It is filled with smart people with great ideas. I always take away something that helps my business.”
McMullen is also involved in the Gwinnett County Arts Facility Authority, SPLOST Citizens Review Board, uses his talents as a coach for the Brookwood Soccer Association, and is on the board for the Entrepreneurs Organization.

“When we started redpepper, we dedicated 25% of our entire budget to the Chamber and the Chairman’s Club. It wasn’t much to the Chamber, but it was a big number to us,” said McMullen.  “Now we have relationships through the Chamber that are vital to our business.”

“If I were to give advice to an aspiring business leader, it would be to approach the Chamber with an altruistic heart. Seek first to help others. The law of reciprocation says if you are a good neighbor, you will have good neighbors.”
