Education, Talent & Leadership Development Program Coordinator-Gwinnett Young Professionals

Job Description:

The Gwinnett Chamber is launching a new Education, Talent & Leadership Development Team and is seeking a dynamic, creative and communicative professional to contribute to our body of work. Individuals must have 3 years of experience in sales, marketing or human resources and be willing to work in a fast-paced environment. This position would involve working with Chamber member organizations in the Metro Atlanta area to help their young professionals grow their network, knowledge and leadership abilities by helping them become more fully engaged members of the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce.

 

Responsibilities:

Gwinnett Young Professionals (GYP) is seeking an individual with a passion for the development and advancement of young, talented, high-potential professionals. We seek someone who wants to make a difference in our region by providing stellar, hands-on leadership and execution in the role of Program Coordinator. The Program Coordinator is responsible for creating quality programs and events by collaborating with, and guiding, teams of young professionals who serve as volunteers in the program. From small meetings to 400-person mingles, from two-hour workshops to a six-month leadership institute, these events and programs will provide you the opportunity to craft experiences that can positively change the trajectory of the participant’s career and improve the competitiveness of their employer.

As our program coordinator, you’ll be “the one” when it comes to everything related to Young Professionals (YP) in our community. Working with Member companies, volunteers and the program’s Board of Directors, you’ll provide inspiration, guidance and accountability to the passionate YP team who drives the programming and events delivered to the participants.

 

Job Duties:

Build and maintain effective relationships with volunteers, members, investors, sponsors, and Chamber colleagues

Develop process maps and project plans for the high volume of Gwinnett Young Professionals programs and events

Create and execute a plan to identify, cultivate, secure and steward appropriate financial sponsor relationships that support GYP objectives and aligns with sponsor needs

Work closely with Chamber colleagues to ensure proper marketing of events and programs to achieve the goals outlined in the strategic plan for the program

Actively seek ways and means to creatively drive exposure and awareness of the GYP program offerings and work to grow program enrollment and participation

Represent GYP to a wide variety of audiences through effective communication and presentation of the program, the critical importance of young professional talent and the short- and long-term impact of talent retention on our community

Manage the coordination of volunteers for the programming of the Gwinnett Young Professionals group. Coordination includes the scheduling of program activities, disseminating invitations, preparing and aggregating event materials and notes.

Lead the execution of event/meeting logistics which may include catering coordination, food and drink presentation, set-up/break down support and kitchen restocking

Work with GYP Board Members and volunteers to evaluate programs so that resources are optimized for the best possible return-on-investment

Manage and meet overall program budget goal and prepare periodic financial progress reports for individual events

Provide administrative support to the Education, Talent & Leadership Development team in the form of basic research, engagement reporting and other special projects as needed

Preparation of weekly reporting for the Vice President – Education, Talent & Leadership Development

 

Requirements

Minimum of 3 years sales, marketing or human resources experience or any combination thereof

Self-starter capable of taking initiative

BA or BS degree from an accredited institution or equivalent experience

Event planning experience

Excellent organizational skills

Exceptional writing, grammar and presentation skills

Detail-oriented with extensive computer knowledge and office skills, including proficiency in the use of Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint.

Ability to learn and become adept at the use of a membership database and task management system

Familiarity and comfort with the strategic use of social media platforms such as Twitter, Snapchat and Instagram

Capable of working flexible hours
