We are nearly halfway into year 2020 and our nation has already faced a multitude of unprecedented challenges. The coronavirus pandemic alone has brought upon an economic recession resulting in a national unemployment rate as high as 14.4% and over a hundred thousand lives lost. As we navigate through these uncertain times, the need for strong leadership and meaningful solutions has never been more important.

At the start of the 116th Congress, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce pledged to recognize members of Congress who demonstrate strong leadership on pro-business legislation and work across the aisle. The Abraham Lincoln Leadership for America Award recognizes members of Congress who show leadership critical to advancing policies that support America’s free enterprise system. The Gwinnett Chamber congratulates U.S. Congressman Hank Johnson for receiving the U.S. Chamber’s Abraham Lincoln Leadership for America Award.  From his support for the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement Implementation Act to his service as Chairman of the Judiciary Subcommittee on Courts, Intellectual Property, and the Internet, Congressman Johnson’s leadership in Congress has made an impact for businesses and residents across Gwinnett.

The Gwinnett Chamber also appreciates having partnered with Congressman Johnson in efforts to lead our business community amidst the pandemic. In April, Congressman Johnson shared updates on COVID-19 developments with our members and provided insight on steps Congress is taking to address the economic and public health crisis. We look forward to continuing this partnership in helping Gwinnett thrive.

Serving in his seventh term, Congressman Hank Johnson is the U.S. Representative for Georgia’s Fourth Congressional District – which encompasses parts of DeKalb, Gwinnett and Newton counties and all of Rockdale County.
